Save valuable time in patient cancer care

After a cancer diagnosis, a tumor board is an expert panel of specialists who come together to determine the best possible treatment for each patient. The importance of the tumor board for the patient cannot be overstated. It is through this meeting that specialists are able to share knowledge, discuss options and ultimately establish a plan for treatment and care.

For participating clinicians, time is of the essence - so every bit of patient information needs to be ready when they start. It’s one of the most crucial moments of a cancer patient’s life. If a single file is missing, the tumor board might have to postpone its decision, sometimes for days.

In 2015, Impossible partnered with Roche Diagnostics to create a digital platform to organize and store the tumor board’s information, in order to speed up the process and improve patient care.

Revolutionizing Tumor Boards

Digitizing Tumor Boards can be done in many ways, but creating a specific platform for organizing cases and collaborating on the boards is a brand new idea. Impossible designed, tested and helped implement a powerful but easy-to-use tool that allows doctors and nurses to expedite their work, collaborating and reaching conclusions faster and more efficiently.

By doing so, we not only helped speed up the Tumor Board process, but opened a new door for structured patient profile and treatment plan data to be used globally across facilities, in the pursuit of a digital revolution for better and more agile patient care.

Through the continued success of this collaboration, our methodologies and their results, Roche created the Diagnostics Information Solutions department, which is now growing exponentially as a leading healthcare tech company, and for which Impossible continues to contribute in multiple other innovation projects.

A new kind of global patient care

The NAVIFY Tumor Board is a big step towards finding a fast and accurate diagnosis and treatment for cancer patients but it’s also a step towards a new kind of patient care. Having a system which centralizes patient profile information, treatment data and allows for secure specialist collaboration has the potential to revolutionize the handling of complex cases - leading to faster, more integrated and more accurate diagnostics and care.

Impossible’s Planet Centric Design methodology works by developing solutions to individual problems that have wider planetary benefits. Using the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as a guide, we think carefully about designing products and services that contribute to these larger planetary objectives.

NAVIFY Tumor Board and the innovations in digital healthcare platforms that underpin it directly contribute to SDGs 3 and 10 - boosting health and wellbeing, and reducing inequalities respectively. Having a centralized case management system will ensure fairer, faster treatment for all.
